Welcome!
The 23rd Annual Colorado Invitational Bible Quiz Tournament will be held Friday night and Saturday, February 15th & 16th at Woodside Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado.
The CI 2019 presents a great opportunity for your team to compete with other top-level Bible quiz teams from around the country. Aside from the competition, the CI is also a great opportunity for healthy Christian Fellowship with other teens, coaches, parents, and supporters that love God and His Word. We believe that this tournament will be a challenge and encouragement for all teams that attend.
The theme for CI 2019 is “Knowing the Truth” and is taken from 2 Timothy 3:7. This verse says, “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” This verse is part of a larger context which explains the foundation of the corrupt mindset of people in the last days. We live in a day and age where people are constantly attempting to learn new truth yet tend to ignore the truth of God that is so obvious and right in front of them. Just as the first few chapters of Romans and 1 Corinthians explain, the only way to gain real knowledge is to acknowledge God’s truth. God has revealed His truth in His Word (John 17:17; Psalm 119:142), His Creation (Romans 1:19,20; Psalm 19) and through His Spirit (1 Peter 1:21; 1 Corinthians 2:10-16). This is why studying, meditating on, and memorizing God’s Word is so important. Ephesians 6:17b explains that as we study God’s Word, we enable the Holy Spirit’s power and impact in our lives. May we learn God’s truth by passionately learning His Word. That is why CI (and tournaments like CI) exist. May we continue to make God’s Word a priority as we provide an environment and venue that motivates, excites, and promotes God’s Word in the lives of young people.
The schedule and format for the CI 2019 will be very similar to the CI 2018 (with a few potential minor changes in Division 2). The tournament will start with six preliminary rounds on Friday night, resume with two preliminary rounds on Saturday morning, then culminate with the double elimination rounds when the preliminary rounds are finished on Saturday. There will be two divisions: Elite Division and Division II. The Elite Division will be for varsity level quizzers/teams that have previous quizzing experience and are prepared for National-level quizzing. The 2nd Division will be for less experienced Sr. High Quizzers, any Jr. High or JV teams, and even for more experienced elementary quizzers.
As soon as you decide to attend this tournament, please fill out the registration form and send it to us (online, email, or mail). This will secure your team’s spot in the tournament. As with last year… we will be having an early bird discount for early registrations received.
If your Colorado stay permits, we would also love to have you stick around and go skiing with us on Monday, the 18th (President’s Day)! Ski information (lift ticket cost, rental options, etc) are posted under the “Ski Day” page.
We hope this website will help you & and your team as you prepare to come to Colorado. Do not hesitate to follow the links to the past CI websites for pictures, place winners, etc. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us (email is probably the best way).
In Christ,
