Welcome to the CI 2018 website!
The 22nd Annual Colorado Invitational Bible Quiz Tournament will be held Friday night and Saturday, February 16th & 17th at Woodside Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado.
The CI 2018 presents a great opportunity for your team to compete with other top-level Bible quiz teams from around the country. Aside from the competition, the CI is also a great opportunity for healthy Christian Fellowship with other teens, coaches, parents, and supporters that love God and His Word. We believe that this tournament will be a challenge and encouragement for all teams that attend.
The theme for the CI 2018 is “Warriors for Christ” and is taken from 1 John 2:13,14. Those verses conclude with the statement, “…ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.” This verse leads into the great discussion of loving the world verses loving God. In order to grow in our love for God, we must realize the battle that we are in. As Christians, we must be “warriors” for Christ during the attacks of the devil. What about us? When we study the word of God, we are growing strong. When we translate our knowledge of God’s message into allowing it to abide in us, we can overcome the wicked one and his influences. When the message of God’s truth consumes our thought and dominates our desires, we will overcome the wicked one. May we learn and grow in our knowledge, love, and application of God’s wonderful Word.
The schedule and format for the CI 2018 will be almost identical to the CI 2017. The tournament will start with six preliminary rounds on Friday night, resume with two preliminary rounds on Saturday morning, then culminate with the double elimination rounds when the preliminary rounds are finished on Saturday. There will be two divisions: the Elite Division and Division II. The Elite Division will be for varsity level quizzers/teams that have previous quizzing experience and are prepared for National-level quizzing. The 2nd Division will be for less experienced Sr. High Quizzers, any Jr. High or JV teams, and even for more experienced elementary quizzers. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about what division you/your team should join. *New this year… We will be having a (very) informal, optional “practice” tournament from 10:30-noon on Friday morning, the 16th. Teams are welcome, but not required to attend the Friday morning quizzing.
If your Colorado stay permits, we would also love to have you stick around and go skiing with us on Monday, the 19th (President’s Day)! Ski information (lift ticket cost, rental options, etc) are posted under the “Ski Day” button above.
